Earlier this summer, it looked as though a longstanding part of Soho society was about to become another victim of the lockdown. Balans - a part of Soho since 1987, and a particular favourite of the area's LGBT community, put all of its restaurant sites on the market.
The announcement was met with horror by its fans, many of which counted on somewhere like Balans to be open in the wee small hours post-clubbing when they most needed sustenance. Things looked touch and go for a while, but we're very happy to report that as of this week, they're about to reopen again. All that is, with the exception of Balans Ealing and Balans Victoria.
The group's co-founder David Taylor, is pretty pleased at the turnaround. “We’re delighted to be back and can’t wait to see the familiar friendly faces return... For all restaurants this has been a dark and stormy mountain to climb but the team are buzzing to bring the Balans spirit back.”
Alongside a special Rishi-dedicated drink, the classic menu will be returning, including "all-day dining classics and modern comfort food" - all in the capable hands of Executive Head Chef Steve Wilson who's worked with Henry Harris at Harvey Nichols 5th Floor and Richard Turner at Paris.
