What: The Borough Market Kitchen
In a nutshell: New communal dining space and traders at Borough Market
Summing it all up: Up to 25 food traders will feature in a new communal dining space, The Borough Market Kitchen, that opens in Jubilee Place in mid-November.
The low-down
Can’t find a space to sit at Borough Market at lunchtime? In celebration of its 21 years in SE1, there’s going to be a whole new option of long communal tables from mid-November with the launch of the Borough Market Kitchen. Featuring 25 traders, ranging from Rudie’s Jerk Shack to Mimos PIntxos Bar, at least 30% of ingredients will be sourced from the market itself. Yes, Borough Market is getting in on that upscale food court action.
“The Borough Market Kitchen will be a new space for London to come and eat together," says Darren Heneghan, the market's MD, "a community hub for the market, showcasing the incredible diversity of our produce and bringing together some of our market pioneers with exciting new traders.”
What’s more, the new airy covered space adjacent to the Green Market will be constructed from recycled sustainable materials, as well as being single-use plastic-free. As for the traders - here's the line-up, with the headline being Mei Mei - from ex-Pidgin chef Elizabeth Haigh.
