Picture Marylebone and Picture Fitzrovia announce shock closure

Sad news over the weekend as the team behind Picture announced that they'll be closing both their restaurants, on Portland Street and in Marylebone, from next month.

After six years, they've made the difficult decision to close up both businesses on 5 October. For "many boring reasons" they've found it hard to keep going and "we are making this decision....whilst we are in a solid position to close the restaurants properly without leaving anyone out of pocket."

The post received over 100 comments, many from customers gutted to hear the news. Fellow chef Diego Jacquet commented: "Sorry to see awesome neighbourhood independent restaurant like yours shut." While top London restaurant PR guru Maureen Mills added: "am sure that you three talents will emerge somewhere new and I look forward to that news."

Some news... October 5th will be the last day of trading at both of our restaurants. It is hard to believe that it is over six years ago that this Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman opened Picture on Great Portland Street. Giddy with excitement - albeit with zero guests booked - we pushed open the doors one Tuesday lunchtime with hope in our hearts that we could make this venture work. And for quite a while we have done. But it has become more difficult recently to keep the business viable. There are many boring reasons why, and we have been working harder and harder to keep on top. This work has been tough on us but tougher on our families. Rather than continuing we are making this decision for them, whilst we are in a solid position to close the restaurants properly without leaving anyone out of pocket.
