There’s a bit of a shake up happening at Spelzini, the Italian cafe within the Forge and Co co-working space on Shoreditch High Street. During the day it is to remain Spelzini, offering, sandwiches, salads, and coffee, but from September 26 onwards it will now be known as Luigi’s Bar in the evenings.
Although Spelzini currently has an evening offering, Luigi’s Bar is to apparently have all new food menus, plus a new cocktail menu designed by founder Jim Fisher together with mixologist Fin Spiteri. Rather than big plates of food, the menu will instead focus on spuntini, antipasti, and trammezzini (small Piedmontese sandwiches):
• Mortadella
• Burrata drizzled with chilli oil
• Gorgonzola with figs
• Calabrian anchovies
• Trammezzini filled with Olasagasti tuna and caperberries
The drinks list will have a strong line up of Italian wines, plus a dedicated vermouth menu, while those cocktails are set to include the likes of a cherry shrub negroni, a clementine Aperol shrub, and a truffle and olive frozen martini.
