Angela Hartnett is bringing Cafe Murano to Bermondsey Street

Cafe Murano Bermondsey

What: Cafe Murano Bermondsey

In a nutshell: A third location for Cafe Murano

Summing it all up: Bermondsey is the next location for Angela Hartnett's Murano spinoff, with classic Italian dishes and cocktails on the menu.

The low-down

Cafe Murano, Angela Hartnett’s more casual offshoot of her Michelin-starred Murano, is moving south of the river for its next location, opening up on Bermondsey Street this autumn.

The St James and Covent Garden sites are still going strong and this new addition will be in excellent company, joining the likes of Jose Pizarro and the upcoming new Loyal Tavern from Tom Cenci on Bermondsey Street. It’s also taking over the site of the much-lauded Zucca, which closed at the end of 2015, so it’s a location with many foodie credentials.

Adam Jay, who’s currently Head Chef at the St James location will be making the jump over to run the kitchen at Bermondsey. The core of the menu will be made up of current signature dishes such as Ossobuco alla Milanese, plus new dishes exclusive to Bermondsey that will be announced closer to opening.

With selections of cichetti, antipasti, and fresh pastas, we can expect to see dishes include:

  • Classics such as anolini in brodo, Chicken Milanese, Risotto Osso buco
  • Culatello Zibello, made from rare pig breed Nero di Parma, served with Gnocco Fritto, a puffed fried dough
  • Pork cutlet, Agrodolce grapes
  • Tiramisu parfait
  • Pistachio cake

And there will, of course, be a strong selection of Italian wines, plus cocktails such as the Cafe Murano Spritz, made from Aperol, Cocchi Rosa, Luxardo Maraschino.
