Three London pubs make it into AA's The Pub Guide 2020

The AA's The Pub Guide 2020 has just come out and this morning they released the details of the new pubs that have made the grade for the first time. Chosen for "their atmosphere, good beer and great food", three London establishments have entered the 2019 guide. They're all in central London and here's what you need to know about them.

The Carpenters Arms

12 Seymour Pl, Marylebone, London W1H 7NE

USP - a great place to watch a sporting event, whether that's football, cricket, rugby or tennis.

What's on the menu? The big thing here is a full range of Pieminster pies from the Moo & Blue - British beef steak & Long Clawson Stilton pie to the Heidi - Goat's cheese, sweet potato, spinach & red onion pie.

What to drink: They're big on guest ales - recent ones have included the Boom! Boom! from Vale Brewery and a DBONE bitter from Dorking Brewery.

The Wigmore

What's on the menu? As you'd expect, it's very good - bar snacks include a must-have Masala spiced scotch-egg with dahl relish and buttered crumpets with steamed cock crab.

What to drink: The drinks list here includes a thoughtful wine list plus plenty of cask ales and craft beers including their own beer Saison, brewed in partnership with Bermondsey’s Brew by Numbers.

The Perseverance

What's on the menu? Pizzas are the main event here, but there's also a separate beer food menu with wings, burgers and mozzarella sticks on there.

What to drink: Plenty of London breweries feature on the list here including Meantime, Reunion Ales, Beavertown and Portobello Brewing Co. Wines come from neighbouring wine shop Albion.
