Suzi Tros is a New Greek Bistro from the Team behind Mazi in Notting Hill

19/6/19 - updated with opening details

What: Suzi Tros

In a nutshell: A new modern Greek bistro from the team behind Mazi

Summing it all up: An open charcoal grill will be at the heart of this new Greek bistro, Suzi Tros, which will focus on seasonally changing small plates.

The low-down

Adrien Carre and Christina Mouratoglou, the husband and wife team behind Greek restaurant Mazi, already scored a hit with their first restaurant and now they’re looking to replicate that success with their next venture, Suzi Tros. They’re not venturing very far either, as Suzi Tros is located just two doors down from Mazi on Hillgate Street in Notting Hill.

If you’re wondering about the name, apparently it’s a character from the cult classic 1960’s Greek film ‘I Parisiana’ – Suzi Tros literally means ‘Suzi, you eat’. The inspiration for the menu comes from Christina’s hometown of Thessaloniki and will focus mainly on small plates. Mazi’s head chef John Skotidas will be overseeing the menu here too, with a charcoal grill sat behind some counter seating laying at the heart of the restaurant. Dishes we can expect to see include:

  • Metsovone Croquettes with Bacon Jam (£7)
  • Prawn Tartare (£16) and Sea Urchin (£19)
  • Smoked Aubergine, Tahini & honey (£6)
  • Artichoke Hearts “A la Polita” (£12)
  • Courgette Flowers Gemista (£9)
  • Whole Grilled Calamari (£15)
  • Grandmama’s Meatballs with Tzatziki & handmade chips (£10)
  • Chicken Thigh Gyro Tacos (£5 each).

The drinks list will be a predominantly Greek affair, with a wine list made up entirely of Greek wines, plus Greek beers from smaller producers, and some lesser known Greek spirits such as Mastika and Tsipouro.

The site has got two floors with a cocktail bar in the basement and a dining room with kitchen counter on the ground floor. Interiors-wise, expect plenty of Mediterranean turquoise blue, Greek patterns and natural light helping to create a bit of a Greek seaside feel in Notting Hill.
