The low-down
If what you're looking for when you go out is somewhere just like home, only nicer, then pop up turned permanent spot The Little Yellow Door is going to be right up your street. Well, if you live in Notting Hill.
Having run a successful pop up on Notting Hill Gate, they've now found a permanent space. The theme is the perfect flatshare - with the idea that one of your mates has just won the lottery of life and inherited a house on the All Saints Road.
So there's a bar serving cocktails like Coffee and Cigarettes, served with a surprise on the side (which sounds a bit ominous) and Kill Bill, a mix of Earl Grey infused Bombay Sapphire Gin, Lemon Curd and Thyme. If you end up becoming a regular you'll get personalised mug-shot mugs and a secret key to guarantee entry.
For food, the idea is that two of the flatmates are having a cook-off with their national cuisines - the winner stays on for a month. They're kicking off with dishes like Salt and Pepper Squid, served with Lettuce Wraps, Lime Leaf and Lemongrass Dipping Sauce, Woodfired Bavette Steak with Chimichurri and a Horseradish Cream or Shallot Sauce and Pork Belly and Peanut Bao Buns with House Pickles.
At the weekend they'll be open for bottomless brunches on Saturday and Sunday roasts. And downstairs you'll find The Flatmates' Den, open till 2am with board games, poker tables and music if you fancy staying up late.
