The stretch of St Paul's Road from Highbury Corner already has the likes of Trullo, Prawn on the Lawn and St Paul to attract folk in the evening. Now, there's another space to spend your time and money.
Rick Toogood tells us that Prawn on the Lawn is taking over the space at next door coffee shop Sawyer & Gray in the evenings turning it into a cocktail and oyster bar for Sawyer & Gray Lates. They'll be serving up food and drink at night from 6pm to 11pm, Thursday to Saturday with the intention, if it proves popular, to extend that to Tuesday and Wednesday too.
"We want it to be used as a neighbourhood bar," Rick told Hot Dinners. " So, great atmosphere, great drinks and great bar snacks."
A quick glance at a menu sounds like it's right up our street (literally as well as figuratively):
- Porthilly oysters - raw or deep fried
- POTL crushed spiced Potatoes with garlic creme fraiche
- Taramasalata, pink peppercorns, crispbread
- Mushroom + prawn pintxos
- Lamb skewer, charred dressing
- Buttermilk fried chicken, pickled ginger, and sansho pepper mayo
There'll be a short wine list with glasses from £6.50 including specials like Cornish-produced Trevibban Mill Pink Brut on the menu, plus cocktails like a Cornish negroni, Dark and Prawny (see what they did there?) and a Spiced Cucumber Margarita among others.
