A Hot Dinners exclusive

What: Le Cellar

In a nutshell: Wine bar and tapas for Clerkenwell

Summing it all up: The former wine buyer at Club and Cellar Gascon has come back to the area to open a wine and tapas bar on St John Street.

The low-down

Clerkenwell residents are getting a new wine and tapas bar. Le Cellar, which opens its doors for a soft launch tomorrow, is the passion project of entrepreneur Simon Maniora and Anthonin Charlier the former Beverage Manager at The Bulgari Hotel and before that - for five years - the wine buyer at Cellar and Club Gascon.

There's not much info on it to date - it's taken over the site previously held by the Brooklyn diner - but what we do know is that the wine list follows current London trends by featuring mostly natural, organic or biodynamic wines from artisan producers all around the world. Handily for local residents or workers, they'll also offer take away at 50% off of the wine list prices.

For food they've brought in Head Chef Matt Smith (formerly of Cliffords in Temple) - and a quick shifty at their Insta feed suggests his tapas dishes will be rather good even if their website does describe them as a "definite eye and mouth orgasm".
