You may be the kind of person for whom the very idea of Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is worse than spending the holidays with your in-laws, in which case there's nothing to see here. If, however, like us, anything that combines rollercoasters with hot toddies, more churros than you can shake a candy cane at AND covers it all with a sprinkling of fake snow and Christmas cheer is just the thing for you, then read on.
In previous years, it's probably safe to say that the annual festive gathering taking over Hyde Park every winter hasn't perhaps been blessed with the best of what London's food scene has to offer. And to a certain degree, we didn't have a problem with that. A bit of bratwurst and chips in the Bavarian Food Hall while an oompah band played Wonderwall can be a lot of fun.
But this year the organisers have stepped things up a notch with their Street Food area. For some reason they've kept a bit quiet about this - there's no mention of it on their website. But what this area of the festival does have is some excellent food on offer.
Taking part this year are: Homeslice, E8 Fish, Burger & Beyond, The Piadina Project, Makatcha, Kalimera, The Mac Factor, Oh My Dog and Ghetto Grillz. So if you're after a chilli steak dog, halloumi fries or that 45 day aged beef patty with cheese then this is the place to come.
There's also a newish looking beer tent around the corner worth trying. The Kraft Beer Bar has been set up by Elephant & Castle brewery German Kraft Beer which is serving up a range of beers, hot gins, mulled wine - with pretzels and beer sticks as snacks.
