What: Garden Room
In a nutshell: High rise bar and restaurant on Charing Cross Road with a view
Summing it all up: The Bourne & Hollingsworth group are behind London's latest high rise opening. Garden Room at the Assembly Hotel promises amazing views over London with plants involved in the decor, food and even the cocktails.
The low-down
Who doesn't love a bar or restaurant with a view? And when that view takes in the London Eye, The Shard and Nelson's Column then so much the better. That's what you'll get at the new Garden Room opening on Charing Cross Road next month.
Behind this new rooftop space are the folk at Bourne & Hollingsworth - they've transformed the tenth floor of the Assembly Hotel (which opened this summer) into a hotel bar and restaurant featuring their signature look - so it's all rattan furniture, LOADS of plants and a window box meadow to boot.
Open for lunch and dinner through to late night cocktails, the space is split into a series of counter tables and there's a private dining room with room for 22. And with floor to ceiling glass windows - it's all about the view.
Dishes will include:
- Burrata, beetroot, candied lemon, watercress, Marcona almonds
- Slow cooked spiced lamb, prunes, chilli & coriander, sweet potato mash
- Roast cauliflower, red pepper, buckwheat, pistachio, pomegranate and mint with spiced coconut yoghurt
- Espresso martini affogato
And the cocktail menu will mirror the fresh herbs and spices used in the food, so drinks like Gimble will blend Four Roses Yellow Label bourbon blend with a homemade dandelion and nettle cordial.
