What: The Library Bar
In a nutshell: The intimate 17th bar at The Ned
Summing it all up: An intimate new bar at The Ned, the hotel and club from Soho House and the Sydell Group, The Library Bar features a big champagne list and high-end cocktails.
The low-down
The Ned already has 10 restaurants and 16 bars but they’ve somehow found room for one more, on the ground floor next door to Cecconi’s. Called The Library Bar, it’ll be an intimate space seating just 18, with a design inspired by the 1930s, including restored antique furniture, old cocktail books, oxblood leather panelling and a bespoke brass bar.
If you’re a champagne fan then you’ll be happy to hear that there’s 30 to choose from, such as Perrier-Jouet Blanc de Blancs, and Bollinger Grande Annee Rose, all sold by the glass as well as by the bottle. We’re particularly interested in the martini trolley however, which will move from table to table making bespoke blends from a big list of gin, vodka and vermouths, all mixed in front of guests.
There’s a healthy cocktail list too, such as the ‘Breakfast at Emily’s’ – Buttered Star of Bombay with Cointreau, marmalade and toast essence, citrus, and champagne – and ‘The Royale Punch’, a blend of Remy Martin VSOP, peach, earl grey, citrus cordial and anis with Champagne.
Food comes from The Ned’s executive chef Michele Nargi, and he’s not messing around – dishes include caviar (from £80), wagyu beef tartare (£15), and truffle pizzetta (£15).
