We don't know about you, but the idea of a Friday night pub menu devoted to Korean and Japanese style 'anju', or bar bites sounds EXACTLY what we'd want to stave off a Saturday morning hangover.
And if you live in Walthamstow, that's just what you've got as Chicken and Gochu become the latest folk to take over the Friday night slot at Ye Olde Rose and Crown. This is the first time the Highams Park-based husband and wife team have popped up anywhere. Korean wife (Boyoung) and British husband (Luke) told Hot Dinners they have a passion for Korean and Japanese style 'anju', or bar bites, "basically anything yummy to go with drinks".
On the menu will be a a choice of Dak-kang-jeong (fried chicken pieces) - choose from either gochu hot and sweet chili sauce or kan-jang soysauce or - better still - go for the ban-ban (half and half) option.
For veggies there's an option of silky smooth cubes of fried tofu or crunchy slices of fried lotus root, served with a radish garnish - with the same sauce choices as above and an additional option (for pescatarians) of a Tsuyu Japanese fish and kelp based soy sauce.
"We are over the moon to have landed the Friday night slot for a kitchen take-over in a pub known across East London for it's great food pop-ups," they said.
