Mamma Mia! The Party London plans dancing queens and dinner to the O2

Mamma Mia! The Party London plans dancing queens and dinner to the O2

What: Mamma Mia! The Party

In a nutshell: Abba dinner theatre heading to London

Summing it all up: The Abba dinner theatre experience to London - expect retsina, renditions and a lot of audience participation

The low-down

If you’re wild about Abba and loved Mamma Mia the movie and all its summery Greek vibes, then great news - Abba’s Bjorn Ulvaeus is transforming a purpose-built venue at the O2 into a dinner-theatre celebration of the Mamma Mia! stage show: Mama Mia! The Party.

Participants will be invited to “spend a magical summer evening with friends in a very special Greek island taverna, where the host’s only rules are dance, dine and have the time of [their] lives.”

This means the night will come complete with a Greek taverna-style restaurant, so diners can eat the food that will complement the immersive show, which will include songs from the musical. Die-hard fans (we know you’re out there) will be pleased to know that there’ll be a few new characters and a new story too.

“When you step through the doors for the first time you’ll feel as if you’re right in the heart of a Greek island paradise!” reads the website.

Mama Mia! The Party in London would be a sister project to one Bjorn has been running in Stockholm since January 2016, which has been quite a hit too, from the sound of things - “at the end of each performance people stand up and sing and dance in the aisles,” Bjorn said.

It's certainly not on the cheap side of things, but if you're a fan of the musical, you've probably already got your ticket.
