Bleecker, beloved of burger fans everywhere and at the top of Hot Dinners' personal burger list, will finally step into a proper, permanent indoor venue in Victoria.
The move follows almost five years of nomadic life for the legendary burger truck, as they moved between Southbank, Canary Wharf, Streetfeast Dalston Yard, Kerb to name but a few, before finally finding a permanent haunt in Spitalfields in early 2015. That spot was outside though - and now it's time to come in from the cold.
“I can’t help but feel like this is different,” says Zan Kaufman who created Bleecker. “I have a surging level of pride with Victoria knowing we have made it inside off our own backs.”
Diners at the new Victoria venue will be able to sink their teeth into all those classic menu items we’ve come to know and love, which include their double cheeseburger (double American cheese, double beef), and their Angry Fries which come doused in hot sauce and blue cheese sauce. And, of course, the wonderful Bleecker Black with its all-important Clonakilty black pudding. They'll also have a new Oreo milkshake on offer.
Their simple recipes have been consistent wild crowd pleasers, and have earned them numerous accolades, including the much-revered title of London’s Best Burger from Time Out two years running. It certainly helps that all their beef, as many will know, is dry aged for around 45 days and is sourced from grass-fed rare breed cattle.
With its close proximity to Victoria, particularly in an area where your options for a quick bite can feel a bit limited to pre-packaged sandwiches , and where you're in a space bereft of fine burgers - this is a lovely pre-Christmas present - albeit one you have to save until January.
But if you can't wait until January for your Bleecker fix - then head down to Canary Wharf or Spitalfields from 19-23 December. It's their proper annual Christmas gift to their customers where all burgers will be on sale for a fiver. Christmas really HAS come early this year.
Bleecker opens their Victoria branch on 23 January at 205 Victoria St, London SW1E 5NE. They'll be giving away free cheeseburgers from11:30am until 9pm that day. Opening hours are Monday – Saturday 11:30 – 23:00 and Sunday 11:30 – 22:00. Follow them on Twitter at @bleeckerburger.
