Tacos, cocktails, a play list and even incense for the atmosphere - we get Nine Lives bar delivered to our home.
This is VERY poor timing. As London spends its first evening in lockdown once again, one of our bars has just been named best in the world.
The Connaught Bar nabbed the top spot at the hugely competitive The World's 50 Best Bars 2020 which revealed its list today. It was a "deserving winner" said the judges "for the work that is put in and the level of artistry applied to the cocktail craft."
London was the best
With all that happening in and to the world of hospitality, folk in that industry could be forgiven for wanting to just hunker down, let the maelstrom pass them by and hope for better times ahead.
That's certainly one way of dealing with being in Tier 2 in the middle of a pandemic. Alternatively you could do what restaurateur Jackson Boxer has done and add more to your to-do list by opening a brand new bar.
Not just any bar though.
Now that everywhere's table service, you might as well go the whole hog and get your drinks mixed for you there as well. Here's our guide to London's best cocktail and drinks trolleys for tableside action.
Where is it? On Heddon Street, underneath Momo
Who's in charge? Running things here is Eric Lorincz who previously headed up the American Bar at The Savoy which he took to the top slot in the World's Best Bars list.
What's the vibe? Think subtle tropical meets clubby drawing room - so the chairs are studded Chesterfields while the plants and decor are a bit tiki.
Why is it
You may be wondering does Hackney really need another pizza place? Certainly, the team behind Nebula, which opened at the weekend, are very much hoping it does.
This new pizza, beer and cocktail joint has taken over a space just off Hackney Road near to ABQ Bar and Mama Shelter. It's a large site - with room for 200 pizza lovers. And the fact that it also has a large courtyard won't hurt it at all in the current times.
The team behind it are
A Hot Dinners exclusive
One of London's coolest bars reopens tonight with a hot new food offering. Tayēr + Elementary by Alex Kratena and Monica Berg created quite the stir when it first opened (you can read our Test Drive here) with its cutting edge cocktails and an equally innovative food offering by
If you're after a swanky new bar experience then the Baccarat Bar, which has just opened at Harrods, looks to be the place.
The jewel-like bar, which has its own entrance that allows it to open outside store hours, was created in a partnership between the Knightsbridge store and the French crystal brand.
Drinks, by award-winning bar manager Cameron Attfield, have been inspired by the colours refracted through the crystal. So you might
If the words "alfresco espresso martini bar" don't immediately pique your interest, then move along to the next news story. Personally, the idea of being able to sip a really good cocktail in the summer sunshine will always be something we're into.
So we'll have to check out the new Black Cow Espresso Martini Bar that's just opened at Tom Dixon’s Coal Office restaurant in King's Cross. The summer pop-up has been built out of the wooden sidecar to
Their Soho venue has been closed throughout the lockdown but now that Bar Swift (ranked 41 on the 50 Best Bars in the World list last year) are back, they're already getting ready to open a second bar in Shoreditch (where Floripa used to be).
This venue will be an all-day affair, opening at 8am on weekdays. Of course, you won't be able to pick up a cocktail then, so they'll shift to coffee and brunch dishes in the mornings. There will be Neal's
The Camino restaurant group, which already has several Spanish tapas bars and restaurants across London, is opening a pop-up called Bar El Rincón in Vanishers Yard in Kings Cross.
The team behind Flat Iron Yard are heading to King's Cross for their next multi-purpose venue which will serve up live music, American drinks and street food.
A very promising new cocktail bar is opening right underneath Neil Rankin's Simplicity Burger on Brick Lane. It's led by Carl Brown, best known as former Daru-walla at Dishoom aka “the drinks guy”, their main bar development manager and former YBF winner.
His new bar, Tincture, follows the lead set by Simplicity Burger above, with plant-based and no-waste being a key focus. The cocktails will all be
From swanky hotel bars to East London dives, we pick out the very best places for liquor in London right now.
First, we had Claridge's launching their Loubi Express cocktail bar with just eight seats. Now Selfridges have unveiled their Veuve Clicquot Le Tram bar in time for the festive season.
The oh-so-Instagrammable bar has just 10 seats and will serve up Veuve Clicquot champagne and cocktails
