Remind us, what exactly is Napoli Gang?
It's the new delivery-only restaurant from Big Mamma Group - the Parisian restaurateurs who brought London such hits as Gloria and Circolo Popolare.
Where are they delivering to?
Right now it's the areas around Shoreditch and Kentish Town, with more on the way (we hear South London won't be too far behind).
What kind of food?
If you've been to either of their restaurants, you'll spot a few of their signature dishes on the menu - the burrata with pesto heart is one. And they're really keen to stress the provenance of that great Italian produce, so the burrata in question comes from a top producer in Apulia. But most of what you'll find here is new to Napoli Gang from the pizzas to the fritti and dolci.
Here's what we had:
Left to right - Burrata with pesto heart (£12) proscuitto di Parma (£7) and baby mozzarella e pomodori (£4.50). You could really tell the quality of this produce, so if you're wanting to get a antipasti platter together without leaving the house, this is a great service.
Holy Macaroni (£6.50) - Crispy fried balls of macaroni in a Pecorino Romano DOP cheese and pepper sauce. We would have amped up the seasoning on these a bit. But they were very moreish. They also do arancini and a nduja and bechamel croquette.
Youporn Pizza (£14) - Tuscan sausage, Sicilian fennel seeds, provola cheese, spinach, parmigiano cream. SUCH a good pizza - fantastically chewy base with loads of flavour.
Room for dessert?
There's a decent selection of desserts, including three homemade Italian gelatos, a chocolate cookie and panna cotta.
Desserts (left to right) We had the tiramisu (£6.50) and their legendary Lemon Pie XXL (£6) which comes surprisingly intact for such a fragile concoction.
And to drink?
We didn't try any of their drinks, but there's a short Italian wine offering along with two cocktails (a spritz and a negroni) along with soft drinks too.
Overall thoughts:
Napoli Gang's definitely a step up from most London pizza delivery services. The antipasti are of a very high quality and we loved our pizza so much we can see ourselves making regular orders once we get into one of their delivery zones.
