When we heard the news that One Leicester Street's Head Chef Tom Harris was on the move, we did wonder who'd be taking his place. Well the answer is that, temporarily, it'll be ex-Viajante and Mugaritz chef Leandro Carreira. Carreira was sous chef at Mugaritz for two years before moving to London where he was Head Chef at Viajante until its closure at the Town Hall Hotel last week.
From 14 March for three months Leo will run a pop-up 'supper club style' from Thursday to Saturday at One Leicester Street with a weekly changing menu served at communal tables at two sittings. All of which sounds very Loft Club-esque.
The sample dishes certainly sound enticing:
- Whey meringues, trout roe, herbs
- Brown crab, leek, sesame, salted cucumber
- Cuttlefish, cabbage, lardo
- Razor clam, caramelized vegetables
- Root vegetables, black butter
- Salted almonds, vanilla, toasted milk
Drinks to accompany the meal will come from biodynamic and small growers while the staff at The Talented Mr Fox, who are currently running the bar at One Leicester Street, will be coming up with matching cocktails for each evening.
Tickets for the pop-up will cost £88 per person which will include the full menu as well as accompanying drinks and service. Dinner bookings can be made for Thursday, Friday and Saturday for both 7pm and 9:30pm sittings. To book call 020 3301 8020.
The One Leicester Street menu will remain on offer daily at breakfast; for dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday and for lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
