What: The Watch House
In a nutshell: Coffee bar and cocktails
Summing it all up: The Watch House is moving north of the river for its third elegantly designed cafe. There'll be breakfasts in the morning, lunches to go in the daytime, and post-5pm, a cocktail bar. Sounds good to us.
The low-down
If you work in or around Chancery Lane, you'll soon be able to get your hands on The Watch House's orange eggs benedict and speciality coffee more easily when a third one opens there later this month.
The new venue, which will be on Fetter Lane, will serve food and drink all day, starting bright and early at 7am with hot and cold breakfasts washed down their special house blend of coffee, before later moving onto European tapas-style plates. Then, from 5pm there'll be a cocktail bar complete with bar snacks for you to nibble with your drink, including Padron peppers, meat and cheese boards and something quite exciting-sounding by the name of Triple Cheese Bon Bons with Chorizo Ailoi.
If you can't stay, there'll be takeaway lunch options like sandwiches, baguettes and salads to go, plus hot and board specials.
If you do have the time though, it sounds likely to be a very nice spot to sit and watch the world go by from, given owner Roland Horne's previous life in design. And if you're staying, you may as well treat yourself to some sugary goodness in the of something carby from Fatties Bakery, on sale at The Watch House and much loved by Hot Dinners.
