What: The Tapas Room
In a nutshell: Deptford gets a wine shop, tapas bar and delicatessen
Summing it all up: The folk behind Donostia Social Club are opening their second tapas room, this time in the growing Deptford Market Yard. They'll be offering tapas and wine to have their as well as all manner of Spanish produce to take home too.
The low-down
Less than a year after street food folk Donostia Social Club opened The Tapas Room in Tooting's Broadway Market, they're ready to open their second tapas spot, this time in Deptford Market Yard.
The new site, slightly bigger than their space in Tooting will cover the same ground, offering a range of tapas and wine to enjoy there as well as selling wines and Spanish produce to take home.
There'll be a mixture of counter dining and banquette seating as well as a central Tasting Table. On the menu expect a range of charcuterie and cheese as well as dishes like:
- Confit Pork Belly with Morcilla & Pear
- Octopus w Piquillo Pepper Sauce & Samphire
- Seared Scallop, Pisto, Green Chilli Sauce & Almonds
- Chocolate & Macadamia Nut Brownie w PX Sherry Glaze
Given the wine importing background of owners Paul Belcher and Adrian Copplestone, there will be all manner of delights to try here. The 70 strong bottle list - covering wines, sherries, vermouths and Cava - has glasses starting at just £4.50.
We might have to pop down for some shopping too, as they're planning baskets of fresh bread, Spanish preserves, honey, olive oil and sherry vinegars alongside a deli counter of cheeses, charcuterie and other fresh produce.
