Sambal Shiok announces residency at Soho’s Sun and 13 Cantons

03/07/16 - Updated with new dates.

After a successful three months at The Sun & 13 Cantons pub, Malaysian street-food specialists Sambal Shiok are extending their run. Their menu will feature traditional Malaysian hawker dishes including:

  • Curry laksa - served with 50/50 egg / rice noodles
  • Malaysian fried chicken –Coated with their house blend of spices, served with peanut sauce
  • '6 hour' Beef rendang
  • Nasilemak
  • Hainan dumplings

Alongside those, Malaysian desserts and drinks which have also made their debut at the residency ans vegan and gluten-free options are available. And they now have a special £10 lunch deal (and pre theatre too from 5.30pm to 6pm). That has a choice of nasi lemak with either Malaysian fried chicken or dahl tomato lentil curry plus a house drink. And they also have Sambal Shiok street food burgers at lunch - filled with chicken or lentil satay, or beef rendang.

Usually found serving up her authentic style of Malaysian hawker dishes at Street food markets across London, Mandy Yin set up SambalShiok in 2014 after spotting a gap for quality Malaysian food in the London food scene. "I am very excited to have a stronghold in the epicentre of London's food scene. We look forward to welcoming our customers, old and new, and those who may have missed out on our previous residencies.” Mandy said.

Sambal Shiok’s residency at The Sun & 13 Cantons runs until Saturday 2 October. Reservations are available here. Full opening hours are lunch 12pm to 3pm Tuesdays to Saturdays, and dinner 5.30pm to 9.30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Walk-ins and takeaways are available at all times.

Sambal Shiok will be at the Sun and 13 Cantons at 21 Great Pulteney St, London W1F 9NG. Keep up with their news on twitter @sambalshiok.
