They're best known in London for the huge subterranean Covent Garden restaurant which has been there for (blimey) over 20 years. But now, nineteen years since their last London opening in Holborn, Belgo are about to open a restaurant right in the heart of Soho on Old Compton Street (where Amalfi used to be).
If you've been to any of their other restaurants (and if you've lived in London as long as we have, there's a VERY strong chance you have) you'll know what to expect. But if you do need a primer for this Belgian restaurant - expect lots and lots of Belgian beer (52 bottled and nine on draught) and pots of mussels with frites as the main attraction - with chicken, lobster, burgers and more thrown in for good measure. And waffles for dessert, of course.
The new Soho restaurant also has four themed "caves" - Heritage, Beer, Monks and Moules - with decoration to match and all though can be booked out in advance.
Belgo Soho opens on July 23 at 29-31 Old Compton Street London W1D 5JR. For more from them, follow them on Twitter @BelgoSoho
