In a nutshell: Whiskies, bourbons and more from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
Summing it all up: The Whisky Society opens its first non-member bar in Liverpool Street, where 200 rare single malts will be on offer to the public alongside other liquors, cocktails and more, with food provided by upstairs neighbour Mac & Wild.
Whisky aficionados are in for a serious treat when a new whisky bar from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society opens this summer with a huge collection of rare whiskies.
Kaleidoscope, in East London’s Devonshire Square, will be offering what will be for many the first chance to try some of the Society’s 200-strong collection of rare single malts - the world’s most extensive collection. It’ll be the Society’s first non-member bar as well.
The bar isn’t only for hardcore fans, but also at those making their first forays into the rich world of whiskies, so the collection will helpfully be split up into 12 categories like Deep Rich and Dried Fruits. There’ll be ample whisky cocktails as well from mixologists Michael Cook and Jamie Meehan.
Aside from whisky, there’ll be rums, cognacs and bourbons from the Society, as well as fine wines, Champagnes, draught beer from Edinburgh and craft beers.
There’ll be nibbles on hand as well, with thanks to Mac & Wild, who’ll be providing their gooey mac and cheese from their restaurant upstairs.
“In all my venues I have worked hard to produce lists showcasing the very best whiskies Scotland and the world has to offer, and I am very excited to be working directly with the world’s most extensive collection of rare single cask spirits,” said Michael Cook, Kaleidoscope's manager.
