It was a huge success (we popped down and were impressed), so much so that a permanent restaurant is opening soon in Soho.

Launching in early December, the full-time Flat Iron will be setting up shop at 17 Beak Street (off Carnaby street and just down the road from Polpo). As with their previous residency, the one main item on the menu will be the flat iron cut of steak - sold at £10. There will be specials too - for example, Wagyu beef put in an appearance at the residency - but these are to be confirmed.

As with their previous incarnation, sides will include improved dripping chips, creamed spinach, roast aubergine, greens and plenty of sauces.

Soulshakers will be creating the cocktail menu, which will feature something that has "never been done in the UK before" and there will also be a small wine list and craft beers too.

The restaurant itself is being designed by Ben Chapman (currently beavering away on John Salt in Islington and who also worked on the residency). It'll be across three floors and seat 60. Flat Iron won't be taking reservations, but there is a separate basement bar while you're waiting for your table. And finally - the mini cleavers as cutlery will indeed be putting in an appearance in Soho.

Flat Iron will open in early December on 17 Beak Street, Soho and you can follow them on @flatironsteak and register on their website for more info.
