Piccadilly restaurant Hide has gone all-out with its ultra luxe Advent Calendar. The difference is that instead of opening a door on your calendar, you instead open the door to a new delivery every day from the Hide team. There's sweet and savoury treat, boozy tipples and more.

Selfridges Mince Pie Advent calender

The mince pie calendar at Selfridges often sells out - so act fast on this one. There is a different mince pie in avery drawer, ranging from classic to almond, chocolate and citrus topped. Everything finished up on 25th December with a mini handmade Christmas cake.

Little Moons' Mochi Advent calender

Little Moons' Mochi Advent calender

If you're after a calendar full of sweet things with a difference, this should do the trick. This calendar is full of Japanese mochi (bite-sized balls of creamy artisan gelato ice cream in a layer of mochi dough) which includes flavours such as  Vegan Tropical, Vegan Choc, Pistachio & Coconut. You will need to keep it in the fridge though...

Gourmet popcorn providers Joe and Seph always have an Advent calendar on offer - but there's a new one to the mix this year. Officially approved by the Vegan Society, there are mini packs of Joe & Seph’s handmade popcorn in eight unique, vegan flavours, including Joe & Seph’s popular Vegan Salted Caramel and Vegan Toffee Apple & Cinnamon plus new flavours too.

The Feasting Calendar from Fortnum & Mason

This is calendar really does live up to its name - almost like a full Fortnums hamper repurposed as an advent calendar. It features 25 different treats from all over the food halls from Salted Caramel Florentine and Toffolossus Biscuits through to Piccadilly Piccalilli and English Barley Vodka. There's some tea in there - of course - as well as a quarter bottle of champagne. There are many, many more advent calendars available from Fortnums.

Honest Brew's Craft Beer calendar

If your idea of the run-up to Christmas is to make sure you have a beer every day - then this is the calendar for you. There are 13 different styles of beers from independent brewers included, among them 12 HonestBrew exclusives including some of their special collaborations with Brew By Numbers, Whiplash and Basqueland. There's also the Ultimate version, which has seasonal, limited-edition, exclusives and collaborations from European breweries.

Drinks by the Dram specialise in a number of advent calendars so you'll find Irish Whiskies, Premium GIn and more besides. But it's the Tequila and Mezcal version that's caught our eye this year. Hidden behind the doors are 12 each of Mezcal and Tequila, including Pancho Datos Reposado Tequila, Curado Tequila Blanco - Infusión de Agave Espadín and more.

Another yearly favourite, with a different mini-pack of pork scratchings every day. Flavours include barbecue, maple, salted and black pepper - and because it's Christmas, there's a pigs in blankets flavour too.

The Gourmet Marshmallow Co is back again with a calendar and while there's a standard one available - we think this boozy version is the one to go for. Flavours include Raspberry & Prosecco, Peach Bellini, Elderflower & Gin, Violet Gin, Passion Fruit Martini and Pina Colada.

There are a few tea calendars around, including from Whittard, but this hot chocolate calendar sounds like it's much more up our street. There are two sachets a day - it's designed for two people to share - with flavours including salted caramel, sticky toffee pudding, creme brulee and more. And you can always add in some mini marshmallows.

The Aldi drinks calendars

For some of the most affordable wine calendars out there, look no further than Aldi (which often has a surprisingly good and affordable selection). There are two on offer - the wine version (with mini bottles of red, white and rosé) and the sparkling with Prosecco DOC, sparkling Italian Rosé, and sparkling Pinot Grigio.

Doritos - you will have to get your own dips though

Pringles - you'll be having them over Christmas anyway, so you might as well get a new mini tub every day in the run-up

Biscuiteers - They have an advent calendar made of cloth, which you can hang from a door. It's filled with biscuits, of course. 

Chuckling Cheese - There are a few cheese calendars out there, but we like the look of this one, which has wax-covered cheese for every day.

Waterdrop - if you're going alcohol-free, this calendar will make a good alternative.

Mariage Freres - The Parisian tea company has a calendar featuring some of its best teas. You can pick this up instore at Covent Garden.

Chococo - they have a couple of chocolate Advent calenders, either vegan or non-vegan. Flavours include Sea Salt Caramel with smoked sea salt from the Dorset Sea Salt Company.

Lakrids Liquorice Advent Calendar - this one definitely isn't for us, but if you know someone with a love of liquorice..?

Pierre Marcolini - if you're going all-out on the chocolate front, this fancy calendar has 24 of their best pralines

BoroughBox - Theor advent calendar for foodies features products from Brindisa, Made for Drinks and more.
