How to get oysters delivered in London

Oysters aren't just for Valentine's Day. Here's where you can get some great natives and more both for collection or delivered to your door, and support Britain's shellfish industry into the bargain.

Decatur is all about Southern US food and their chargrilled oysters are one of their key kits. The Maldon oysters come with their Pecorino garlic compound butter, cajun seasoning and hot sauce. They also sell oyster knives if you need help getting into the oysters.

Fish Cafe have moved their oysters and Prosecco brunch into takeaway form. Their oysters are already cracked open for takeaway with a range of toppings available and include up to 25 oysters (and a bottle of Prosecco, of course).

Fishworks

Delivery range: Nationwide

Fishworks have an oysters and wine selection that they're delivering across the country. The box has 12 (or 24) Jersey Oysters, FishWorks Fernao Pires white wine, shallot and Merlot vinegar and they even throw in a shucking knife.

While the restaurant is closed at the time of writing, POTL are open as a fishmonger for Islington locals with regular seafood deliveries from the Cornish coast. At the moment, it's all about the Porthilly Rocks.

Richard Haward Oysters

If you're after oysters with a bit of history - this is the place. The Haward family have been farming oysters in Mersea since the 1700s and are some of the best in the country. Various sizes are available to buy online, including native and rock oysters, as well as gift sets which include champagne, Prosecco, wine or beer. You can also still pick up the oysters direct from them in Borough Market.

Sutton & Sons

Delivery range: North East London

Hackney-based Sutton & Sons may be better known for their fish & chips, but they also have a thriving fishmongers and a £30 minimum order gets you oysters and other shellfish delivered via same day delivery within three miles of their Stoke Newington store.

Well known for shellfish and oysters, Wright Brothers have three oyster boxes on offer - with a choice of Morecambe Bay, Jersey or Carlingford Oysters and they also have their own oyster knife. You can also order a shellfish platter box, which adds lobster, crab and mussels.

Bentley's (Nationwide delivery) - This oyster feasting box has a mixture of native and rock oysters, an assortment of traditional garnishes and bottle of Piper Heidsieck Champagne.

Darby's (4 miles from Vauxhall or collection) - They have a special box of a dozen Carlingford oysters, mignonette & lemon dressing and a shucking knife. 

The London Shell Company are opening their boat for Valentine's click and collect packages of oysters, baguette and sparkling English wine.

The Oystermen (Certain London postcodes) - Their boxes feature 12 Maldon rock oysters, a shucking knife, classic mignonette and kalamansi & koshu dressing and a choice of Champagne or cremant.
