Aroma Patisserie
424-426 Green Lanes, London N13 5XG
This is a Greek Cypriot family-run bakery that's been there 40 years. It's great at things like baked goods like bread and borek. It feels like a slice of home.
Kanann Stores
251B Fore St, London N18 2TY
It's an off licence that also sells Sri Lankan food, so hot egg rotis, samosas, mutton rolls. I get curry leaves and green chillis or pop in on my way home and get dahl and rice. I stumbled across it on my way back from Sri Lanka and I've been going ever since.
Köyüm Cafe
735 High Rd, London N17 8AG
A traditional Turkish breakfast place. Turkish breakfasts have been glamourised and turned into this expensive thing that's served down in Haringey. Here it's all made by the mum even the homemade butters and yogurts - they don't cut any corners. Serving breakfast the way it should be - a great little spot.
Dürümcü Ali Baba
3 Green St, Enfield EN3 7HG
Honestly some of the best sit-down BBQ Turkish you'll ever eat. It's a little dive, just 28 seats. All the mezze is free, like hot roasted mushrooms and burnt onions in pomegranate molasses. And then you just order meat on sticks. It's a quick-flowing, sit down, refuel and off-you-go place. Basically, a good local spot to get a decent kebab.
Loon Fung
11 Brantwood Rd, London N17 0DX
I'm in there one day a week buying everything from frozen wontons to fresh veg. I just wander up and down. You can find anything from that region in that place. I've been going for years.
Big Has will be cooking at this year's Meatopia (29 August-1 September) where he'll attempt the UK’s first fire-cooked doner kebab. Catch up with all the Meatopia news by following them on @meatopiauk
