Dalston's The Marquis of Lansdowne is reborn as The Marquee Moon

Dalston's The Marquis of Lansdowne is reborn as The Marquee Moon

The Team behind Docklands nightclub The Cause are revamping a pub in Dalston. Once The Marquis of Lansdowne, it's being relaunched as The Marquee Moon (the second opening recently to take its name from a classic song - see also Goodbye Horses). The same people are also behind All My Friends in Hackney Wick and The Greyhound in Peckham, so it's not their first foray into pub work.

For their Dalston opening, the food is being billed as "British pub classics with East Asian accents" which translates into dishes like:

  • Masala potato flatbread
  • Sai Ua sausage and mash served pinwheel style
  • Cantonese-style chicken char siu sando with fermented ginger cream

After that, there will be rice pudding brulee or negroni jelly sundae for dessert. As for drinks, the cocktails will also be influenced by East Asia with cocktails like an Alfonso Margarita (Reposado Tequila infused with Alfonso mangoes, manzanilla, agave, lime, and tajin).

And, as with quite a few openings these days, a great deal of effort is being put into their hi-fi system (it's also billed as a "Hifi Bar" as opposed to a listening bar), and you can expect DJs into the night.
