22/7/24 - Updated with an official announcement
Ever since the Galvin Brothers announced back in April that they were closing their rooftop restaurant at the London Hilton on Park Lane after 18 successful years, there was speculation on what was going to take its place. Hot Dinners was the first to uncover what will be opening there, and now the hotel has confirmed it.
Shanghai Me, which has restaurants in Dubai and Doha, is making plans to take over both the restaurant and bar space. The design concept is 1930s Shanghai but the menu is more Pan-Asian so think lobster with Singapore sauce and sushi platters alongside Cantonese roast duck and Mongolian lamb chops.
They also go big on dim sum with a dim sum "library" that will be coming to London. Options in the Dubai restaurant include chicken and truffle soy rolls and vegetable crystal bao dumplings. It sounds like a pretty high-end kind of place with spendy signature dishes including roast duck with foie gras and caviar and a Wagyu sub.
Their Doha restaurant is also a high-rise affair, so running things on the 18th floor of the Hilton should be a fairly easy move for them. The bar on the 28th floor was also a big draw under the Galvins, and replacing it will be a lounge bar called Bund.
Things are in the early stages right now, so we'll bring you more news on this when we get it.
