Almost 70 years after opening their first Italian restaurant on Goodge Street, the family behind Spaghetti House is getting ready to open a brand new place. A Braccetto in Earl's Court is being billed as a modern Italian trattoria focusing on regional Italian dishes.
And while the OG Spaghetti Houses are fully old-school, this latest opening is going to be aimed at a younger demographic. There'll be an open plan kitchen and the decor is being described as 'shabby chic'.
“Our family was part of the revolution that transformed London into becoming arguably the most exciting food city in the world”, says Luigi Lavarini whose father, Simone, opened the first restaurant in 1955. "Back then, people simply fell in love with Italian food and culture - they still do today."
On the menu, there'll be a range of pastas, lightweight Romana pizzas and seasonal specials.
The Earl's Court opening is the latest in a long line of new Italian restaurants in London, as the city's love affair with Italian food shows no sign of waning. It's taken over the old Thunderbird Fried Chicken site.
