The folk behind SushiHeads in Tottenham have now got a new venture to pour their energies into. Having closed their Tottenham restaurant just weeks ago they're now open as Okonomiheads in Haggerston.
The talent behind the business is Naomi Simpson. Her decision to open an okonomiyaki restaurant has its roots in her family history - her parents ran an okonomiyaki bar in Osaka. They retired this year and, as Naomi explains: "my passion became full of hope to keep their recipes."
The new bar/restaurant seats just 24 people. On the menu, you'll find various iterations of okonomiyaki (a Japanese savoury pancake) with toppings including fried egg, mochi and kimchi. There's a menu section devoted to onigiri and the sides section also looks enticing with enoki mushroom tempura and fried kimchi with cheese getting our attention.
Right now it's unlicensed, offering BYO with corkage until the alcohol licence comes in.
