29/11/23 - updated with the opening date
Tom Kerridge is planning something new for London. The chef has been running Kerridge's Bar & Grill in Corinthia London for nearly five years but for his second place, he's heading west to Chelsea. And this time he's opening a pub.
It's not Kerridge's first pub, of course. He already runs the only two-Michelin-starred pub in the UK with The Hand and Flowers alongside The Coach and The Butcher's Tap and Grill in Marlow.
It's that last pub that'll be the one that's coming to London, opening in Chelsea where he'll be taking over what was The Queen's Head. We're told to expect something a little different to the Marlow original though. In Chelsea, it'll remain a drinking pub for the locals first and foremost with food from Kerridge including great cuts of meat alongside burgers and hotdogs. Working with specific producers is a focus, so expect 28-day dry aged, grass-fed beef from HG Walter and Dovecote Farm, Blythburgh pork, Longland Farm Duck and Suffolk Texel lamb. And yes, there will be a Sunday roast.
The inside of the pub is being completely designed, just the shell of the original remains. So expect a two-level pub with a new hardwood bar, vintage flooring and lots of booth seating. There's also a new basement area with an open kitchen.
We'll have much more about the menu as we get closer to the opening date.
