Summing it all up: Bardo will be a luxury Italian restaurant in the heart of St James from club owner Luca Maggiora
The low-down
Over in St James, club owner and now restaurateur Luca Maggiora is getting ready to open a new restaurant. Maggiora, who made his name with clubs like Project and Toy Room and who also owns B-Soho pizzeria, is going all out with the luxury on this one.
To begin with, he's brought in Amalfi-born chef Graziano Bonacina to run the kitchen. Bonacina was formerly Head Chef at Sette in the Bulgari Hotel.
The restaurant will be in the newly refurbished Kinnaird House on the corner of Pall Mall, just off Trafalgar Square. It's going to be a large restaurant with a walk-in wine cellar, whisky room, private dining room, private lounge and a long marble bar.
As for Graziano's menu, here's a taster to whet your appetite:
- Burrata with figs, pickled radicchio, Chioggia beetroot, and white balsamic
- Short rib of beef agnolotti with garlic chips and horseradish
- Tagliolini cacio pepe with porcini and hazelnut crumble
- Veal Milanese, patate sabbiose, and roasted Datterino tomatoes.
They've brought in Luigi Milone who used to be at Cipriani to come up with a cocktail list and you can expect an extensive list of Italian wines too.
Anyone who's been to the Ned should feel at home here in this palatial former bank. They're also going to be having a different live band every night to add to the buzz.
