In a nutshell: Singaporean luxe in The City.

Summing it all up: Pan Pacific Hotels Group is coming to London, taking over a huge new space in the Bishopsgate Plaza development. There will be three new bars and restaurants as well as a further two in the adjoining Devonshire House.

The low-down

London is getting another ultra-luxe hotel and a lot more besides, this time from the Singaporean hotel group, Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

They're opening their first London hotel in the heart of the city, as part of the big new Bishopsgate Plaza development by Liverpool Street. It's also incorporating Devonshire House, so there will be a mix of old and new architecture (and lots of new shops too, apparently).

They're not stinting on the restaurants and bars either. There are going to be five in all - and we have full details of a few of them so far. They are:

The Orchid Lounge - This one jumps out because they've brought in TV star and all round patisserie queen Cherish Finden as Executive Pastry Chef and to look after their afternoon tea. There will be the traditional English tea and also the Singaporean Kopi Tiam with bao, dim sum and choux. So expect sweet treats like Peranakan Pineapple Tart, Kueh Lapis (a moist spice cake) and mini dim sum baskets.

Straits Kitchen - this restaurant will "showcase the melting pot of cuisines represented in multicultural Singapore" with an added focus on British ingredients. Dishes will include:

Wok Fry Singapore Chilli Mud Crab
Scottish Lobster Nonya Laksa
Butter-Aged Buccleuch Beef with roasted black garlic, Himalayan salted chips.

Ginger Lily - the main bar, sees Francesco Putignano, previously at Seabird, taking charge of the bar. They'll have over 200 Champagnes and are aiming for the largest by-the-glass list of fizz in the City. Cocktails will be inspired by Singaporean flavours and there will be an Asian small plates menu to go with the drinks.

Those are all the ones opening in the main new Pan Pacific building - but what's going to be in Devonshire House is being kept under wraps so far. We do know that there will be another bar in that building that's being designed by Tom Dixon alongside another "destination restaurant" that's yet to be announced. We'll add more news about them as soon we get it.
