Surprise! The Guinea Grill is opening for alfresco dining in its Mayfair mews

Fans of Mayfair pub the Guinea Grill, who were perhaps disappointed when it didn't reopen for outside drinking or dining this month, will be happy at the news that landlord Oisin Rogers has changed his mind.

Having originally decided not to opt for an alfresco experience, he's decided to open the pub's outside terrace earlier than planned. To that end, they'll be putting out tables on Bruton Place from next week.

There's a slightly reduced menu - but it'll still include all their steaks and pies - and you can order up a cracking pint of Guinness and a platter of oysters with all being well with the world.

"I am delighted that we can take this opportunity to unfurlough some of our brilliant team and we are so looking forward to serving loads of our happy customers outside, says Rogers. "We are already booking up for May so it is good news that our wonderful guests can come early from next week to enjoy a drink and some of our food in the sunshine."

When the pub does reopen for indoors dining in May, it will continue with its plans for The Guinea Express. That was a takeover of the old Pizza Express site opposite, which only managed a few day's trading in December before we plunged into lockdown again.
