Throughout December there's now an additional reason to head out to Hackney Wick. Perenially popular restaurant Moro has just started a pop up in Autumn Yard. The yard itself is right on the river Lea opposite the London stadium and is a joint venture between Sam Clark of Moro and Morito and Nina Tolstrup of Studio Mama.
The winter popup at Moro's unit places piri piri chicken and squid at the heart of the menu. The team spent lockdown fermenting the piri piri and will be using an oen fire on the terrace to grill the chicken and squid.
The menu sounds very nice and includes, addition to the piri piri:
- Jamon iberico, tomato toast, padron peppers & olives
- Flatbread with spiced labneh, mojo verde & beetroot borani
- Tortilla with alioli
- Mussels, leeks & saffron on crispy bread
- Mayan Gold chips
- Coffee & turron ice cream
It's all very casual. They're not taking reservations but you can sit in or out on the terrace, or opt for takeaway.
