Tommy Banks is opening a restaurant in London - but you'll need a seat at Lord's to eat there

One of the UK's top chefs, Tommy Banks from Black Swan at Oldstead, is opening a restaurant in London - but there's something of a catch (and it's not COVID related).

He's going to be in charge of the new Edrich restaurant at Lord's - part of the new Compton and Edrich stands that are opening in Spring 2021. However, to eat there, you're going to have to be a Debenture-Seat Holder in the new stands - aka high-end season ticket holder. But if you do actually have a Debenture Seat - the new restaurant should be well worth a visit.

The restaurant will be open for "major International match days" with a menu curated by Banks - who is himself a big cricket fan. He's previously cooked at Lord's for their dining club - so this is something of a return for him. As for those of us who don't have a seat - here's hoping that they'll have the odd special dinner when there isn't a match from time to time.

Here's what Tommy has to say about the restaurant:

I’m incredibly honoured to head up the new restaurant of such an exciting development at the iconic Ground. I absolutely love cricket, and Lord’s is the pinnacle ground for any fan - it is such a special place. Food is a huge part of a day at the cricket; after all, this is the only sport that still pauses for lunch and tea! That’s why it’s so important to create the highest quality dining experience. I can’t wait to get started on producing a cutting edge menu to match the contemporary new stands.
