Over Under has been providing the good residents of Earl’s Court with speciality coffee, breakfast, and lunch since launching back in 2017. Recognising that the same people that like to drink good coffee might also like to drink a few nice cocktails, they will be soon be opening in the evenings too, turning from coffee shop into cosy bar at 5pm every night.
Once that last latte has been served, the doors will shut and the transformation will begin. They’re not just turning down the lights, and turning up the music either – some proper thought has been put into this one. The table tops will turn over to showcase a different material on the underside; the bar cabinet will display spirits on an illuminated backing, and the coffee machine will even disappear behind a curtain. There are only 15 seats so the small size should help that create that feeling of an intimate cocktail bar too.
The drinks list, designed by J Rivera (also Bar Manager at Aquavit London) will unsurprisingly have at least a few nods to coffee, including a Coffee & Chocolate Wash Negroni and the house Espresso Martini, using single origin beans roasted by Assembly and vodka from East London Liquor Company. There’s also a very interesting-sounding Cereal Oat Milk & Popcorn Vodka, plus a small list of wines and beers.
