BT Tower's revolving restaurant to reopen for 50th birthday celebrations

bttower

We're not sure that Hot Dinners has been this excited about any news story we've written so far. Because today we bring you the joyous news that for two weeks this summer the BT Tower's revolving restaurant is reopening.

For anyone who isn't as ancient as us and never had the pleasure of dining there before it closed for security reasons in 1980, the great joy of this restaurant was gazing up towards Wembley during your starter, over to Tower Bridge for your main course and across to Buckingham Palace during dessert. You even got a certificate to show you'd dined there, which we must still have somewhere.

There is a reason for this great bounty - it's to celebrate the tower's 50th birthday. As you might imagine, it's expected to be a popular event so BT are going to be putting names into two ballots. Ballot one is open from 22nd June until 29th June Ballot two is open from 30th June until 7th July. You can enter for up to four names.

As for the food, there'll be a set lunch at £49.95 per person or dinner at £67.95. Sample dishes on the menu we've seen include:

  • Cauliflower veloute, baked parmesan foam, cheese straws
  • Charred summer lettuces, parmesan crumb, slow cooked hen’s egg, summer truffle
  • Roasted hake, heirloom tomatoes, smoked tomato coulis, preserved lemon
  • Dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate ganache, hazelnut salted caramel ice cream

The BT Tower birthday experience starts on 25th July 2015 at 45 Maple Street, London, W1T 4JZ. Find out more here.
