So Robert De Niro has just been given the go-ahead to open his first hotel in London (his third after New York and the Philippines). Here's what you need to know about it.
16/8/16 - updated with an opening date and LOTS more of the menu.
We unashamedly LOVE Chick 'n' Sours. Everything we've had there from the AMAZING Szechuan aubergine dish to the massive deep fried whole chicken hasn't failed to thrill. Our only regret is not making it out to Dalston enough - so
When they say a picture's worth a thousand words this one really is. I mean soft serve ice-cream on top of a cloud of candy floss, what more is there to say?
This new ice-cream spot in Covent Garden is brought to you by the couple who did Nice Ice shaved Japanese ice. They're serving up three types of soft serve - vanilla, matcha and hojicha (green tea). Oh and they're putting it on a whole heap of candyfloss.
Milk Train Cafe is open at 44 Bedford

Forgive us if we just get a little bit freaking excited about the news we're bringing you today. Yes, we have the exclusive scoop on what the team at The Palomar are doing next.
The Barbary will be their new restaurant and it's opening its doors in June in Neal's Yard. It's early days yet and we have just few details to whet your appetite. They'll be taking Londoners on a gastronomic tour from the Barbary Coast of
We can't go a week without hearing about some new innovative take on afternoon tea and this week's story comes courtesy of Balthazar which has just launched a Bobbi Brown tea.
The tea ties in with the cosmetic giant's 25th anniversary. So there's a chocolate and sharp blackberry Sachertorte for the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Shimmer Bricks are made with champagne-infused rhubarb with orange and ginger cream, and redcurrant & lemon posset macarons are
Updated with confirmed opening date.
We (and a lot of other people) were big fans of Tower Bridge Spanish spot Bravas Tapas, so news that the restaurant's co-founder Victor Garvey was opening his first solo venture gladdens our hearts. Opening in February in
There's an interesting series of chefs hitting Sheekey's oyster bar in 2016 and they all have one thing in common, they're women.
The all-female guest chef series will run at the bar throughout the Spring and Summer and they've already announced the first three chefs who'll be cooking alongside resident executive chef Andy McLay. Rosie Birkett, Olia Hercules and Anna Jones also have another thing in common - they all began their careers as a writer and stylist, which
Clearly it's a 'cue kind of day. Hot on the heels of our news that Bukowski Grill were opening their third restaurant, this time in Soho - comes news that Bodean's are opening their seventh place, in Covent Garden. They'll be taking over the space previously occupied by Russell Norman's Mishkin's.
And while the 60 seat restaurant will serve
Burger purveyors Honest Burgers are continuing their gradual takeover of London with their latest opening - this time in Covent Garden.
They'll have the usual array of burgers and rosemary fries, and there'll be some special launch days action too. From 25-27 January 2016, the first 100 burgers each day will be free from 11.30.
And that's not all, as they've a
Updated 26/11/15 with soft launch details
We've been big fans of Flat Iron since its early days as a pop-up so news that they're expanding to a massive new Covent Garden restaurant before the end of the year fills us with good cheer.
The new restaurant on Henrietta Street is going to have room for 180 diners - three times as many as their other places on Beak St and Denmark St. And, as they have so much space to play with, they've got some new features
Meatball street van The Bowler is another roaming vendor that's settling down, this time opening a resataurant in Covent Garden with Polpo's Russell Norman.
It'll be an all day affair serving all the meatballs you can handle, starting with breakfast featuring the Brunch Bowler, Smokin’ Bacon Balls and Baked Rosti & Beans (as well as coffee and pastry).
As for the all-day menu - everything will be served in pitta as a "PitBall" or in a Ball Box with
Now this is interesting - Shake Shack have brought in Michelin-starred chef Sat Bains for a burger collaboration. It's the first since they teamed up with Massimo Bottura this time last year, so we'd say this looks like becoming an annual tradition.
The limited edition burger collaboration will be served up at the Covent Garden Shack for one day only - Friday, 9th October.
As for what's in the burger - The Major Oak (£7.25) takes its name from
It's almost exactly a year since Barrafina Adelaide Street opened to a great response (and many awards). With the Hart brothers opening a third on Drury Lane we dodged the queues to try the new one out.
The trend for single ingredient-led restaurants continues with the news that one devoted to the chip is heading our way. Come Fry with Me is going to be touring festivals and markets over the summer before opening up a permanent place in Covent Garden. In keeping with its name it'll have a 1960s air travel themed decor and fries arriving on a ‘fry carousel’ conveyor belt.
“Crisps come in different shapes, sizes and a crazy number of flavours too," explains
