Always popular in its original off-Oxford-Street location and the odd pop-up, Roti Chai have now quietly opened their next restaurant all the way over in Canary Wharf - the latest to be part of the new Crossrail Place centre.
Chai Ki will be part Toddy Shop bar and kitchen, that part is open all-day now, and the dining room which is coming soon. Plus - they'll be doing breakfasts too (some of the dishes
Greenwich is getting a new bistro/deli devoted to fizz and cheese. Champagne + Fromage should be opening their doors on Church Street within Greenwich market next month. It's the third site for the group run by husband and wife team Stefano Frigerio and Maud Fierobe and cheese expert Franck Le Blais.
The Greenwich space will be pretty small, with space for 20 inside and 20 outside. On the menu will be a variety of French food, including fresh tartines and the deli
Following the pop-up on Rivington Street, Korean chicken specialists Jubo are one in a list of many changes coming to Exmouth Market.
The main focus is the Korean chicken. So that's the crunchy chicken wings and boneless strips which are served in small plates or large platters, and glazed in Soy Garlic, Hot or Volcanic sauces. Alongside those, expect similar dishes to the original which include slow
There's a new Vietnamese restaurant coming to Smithfield soon and it's one that's moving there from Bermondsey. Caphe House is moving to Smithfield and changing its name to Caphe Pho in the process.
Obviously, the star of the show will be their pho. Their stock (beef, chicken or vegetable) is made from a family recipe with 12 hours of simmering "to allow the stock to retain all its goodness and develop the
There's a new café opening today in Fulham (following a soft launch), by Lila Sarhang Zadeh, who has previously classically trained as a pastry chef in France.
They'll be making traditional bread using special flour known as “tradition flour” plus more bread including chia seed, flax seed and honey sour doughs - plus more varieties including vanilla and basil. Besides the usual pastries, they'll also have an apple turnover with a whole
Another fairly quiet opening almost snuck in under the radar today as Dip and Flip (already very popular in Clapham) has just opened in Wimbledon. If you're unaware of them, they specialise in the wonderful art of the French dip - sandwiches you dip in gravy.
The new restaurant will have the same menu as before - so that's either chicken, lamb or beef sandwiches or a range of burgers all served with gravy for
Talk about sneaky! Smack Lobster has just opened its second restaurant and this one's in Soho on Dean Street. We haven't been down to the original for a few months, but a look at the menu tweeted by blogger MelissaFoodie today suggests there are some new dishes available here - mainly lobster salads.
The salads cost the same as the lobster roll - £10 - and come in four
Brixton is really booming: buoyed by the success of new ventures like Three Eight Four and Naughty Piglets, its restaurant and bar scene has never been more vibrant. Now as part of Pop Brixton, the self styled 'community campus' for start ups and small businesses, comes Kricket - an Indian restaurant offering small plate dishes, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
Kricket is aiming to combine the best of British seasonal
After years of running things from their airstream, Street Kitchen (founded by Mark Jankel and chef Jun Tanaka) is settling down. But they're not moving far from where that airsteam has been parked, taking one of the spaces at Broadgate Circle for their gourmet sandwich restaurant - selling huge subs cut down and served by the inch. We caught up with Mark Jankel to find out
Irvin Bar Grill - a cicchetti joint in Crouch End - opened rather under the radar a month or so ago. It's run by the former drummer from Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, which will only be a big thing to you if you're as old as Hot Dinners and used to sit listening to their albums, in your 501s and Doc Martens, crying about how awful life was (it really, really wasn't).

When a Hot Dinners reader mentioned to us on Twitter that Patty & Bun had their eye on an East London arch, we went into investigation mode. Turns out the popular burger bunch have taken over a spot on Mentmore Terrace in London Fields, just beside E5 Bakehouse. And while the space is primarily intended as a prep kitchen for their two restaurants and truck -
They might have come under some rather unfair press scutiny when they opened their first venue (pictured above), but there's no denying Cereal Killer Cafe's success. The first one still has queues out the door and now they're getting ready to open the second cafe in Camden.
This one will be at Camden Lock, and will have essentially the same menu as the original. So that's over 100 cereals, 20 toppings and 12 kinds of milk. The
2015 is proving to be a busy old year for Mark Sargeant. Just weeks after his appointment as Chef Director at The Strand Dining Rooms was announced, comes news that the chef and restaurateur is in the last stages of opening a restaurant in Soho. Morden & Lea is described as a modern brasserie, named after 17th century cartographer Robert Morden and Philip Lea, who were the first to map out the area now
We've had burgers & lobsters, chicken & steak, cereal, porridge and more - now it's the turn of the humble meatball to get a restaurant all of its own. Something similar has gone down very well in the States, so it'll be interesting to see how Balls & Company compares.
So far, we know that the balls at the
There's a new coffee house, The Black Penny, heading to Great Queen Street next week. Billed as "bridging the gap between fast food and gourmet gastronomy" it's a mix between a coffee house and cafe/restaurant. The place is named after 17th coffee houses which were known as Penny Universities - you paid a penny for a cup of coffee and admission.
During the day there's a changing menu of British influenced seasonal food. Some examples of those so far are:
