• Korean fried chicken Pelicana is coming to London

  

  News reaches us of another big fast-food chain making inroads in London - and the first branch is opening this week. 

  Pelicana is pretty big elsewhere, with over 3000 branches selling their Korean fried chicken. The first UK restaurant is landing at Hammersmith Broadway shopping centre followed soon after by Angel (June), Wimbledon (July) and Clapham Junction (September).

  The latest Wing Wing, its flagship restaurant, is coming to a big new space on the edge of Chinatown - with Korean fried chicken alongside draft beer (and eventually karaoke too).

  His 'plant-forward' food was enough to win him a £500,000 stake on TV's Million Pound Menu. Now chef Jay Morjaria, is going to be showcasing that winning talent at his new Dalston residency, JAE.

  Having popped up with JAE at various spots across London over the past year or so, this new weekend slot at Untitled will be a semi-permanent base for Morjaria running every Thursday to Saturday night.

  A Korean husband and wife duo with experience at The Arts Club and The Ledbury are opening their first restaurant in London. 

• Ogam Korean tapas bar has opened in Islington

   

  While wandering through Angel over the Christmas break, we spotted this restaurant that opened somewhat under the radar in December. Owner Tae Yeol Kim was apparently International Korean cup Championship 2015 Winner Bartender and is also a Korea traditional alcohol Ambassador.   It’s farewell to the Covent Garden outlet of Jidori and in its place is the third branch of Korean barbecue restaurant Yori.

• Judy Joo brings Seoul Bird to Westfield Shepherd’s Bush

  

  Korean-American chef and television personality Judy Joo will bring a taste of Korea to the food court at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush. Seoul Bird will feature her famous double-fried chicken.

• Anju is the new Korean food residency at The Gun in Hackney

  

  In Islington's Compton Arms, they have the very popular Four Legs residency (which we Test Drove recently). Now the Compton Arms' sister pub The Gun in Hackney has brought in a long term food residency Anju - which they're hoping will be a similar success.

• On The Bab opens on Soho's Archer Street

  

  It's all go for On The Bab. The Korean street food spot has moved from Marylebone to Soho and opens today on Archer Street, replacing owner Linda Lee's Mee Market.

  The new Soho restaurant will serve up the usual bibimbab, bao, dumplings and Korean fried chicken that the group has become known for. But there'll also be a few new things on the menu, exclusive to Soho - including a Korean-style wrap - stuffed with rice, vegetables and kimchi and your choice of bulgogi

  London is getting a new robata grill restaurant from the team at Zuma. Inko Nito on Soho's Broadwick Street will feature Japanese charcoal grilled cooking with a Korean influence.

• Chicken and Gochu take over the Friday night residency at Walthamstow's Ye Olde Rose and Crown

  

  We don't know about you, but the idea of a Friday night pub menu devoted to Korean and Japanese style 'anju', or bar bites sounds EXACTLY what we'd want to stave off a Saturday morning hangover.
