  • Picturehouse Central cinema opens in Piccadilly with Martin Brudnizki-designed restaurant

    picturehouse2

Popping into town to catch a preview of Ant Man this weekend (topline - it's brilliant and you must all go and see it) we were frankly taken aback by the unalloyed gorgeousness of the new Picturehouse Central. Esssentially it's as if a lovely art house cinema, serving up excellent coffee and Crosstown Doughnuts had transformed a West End multiplex overnight.

Not only are all the screens and seating new - there are seven of them - but there are all manner

So with a designer behind it - the design will be worth checking out. Although unfortunately we have nothing to show of the actual place yet. What we do know is that there will be a big oval copper bar as you enter - and as for the rest, it's

  • A Holloway supperclub with ambition: we Test Drive Croft Kitchen

croft mainIt's been far too long since we went to a London supperclub, so having written about the arrival of Croft Kitchen in Holloway a few weeks ago, we decided to rectify that. There were a few reasons why. First it was incredibly local, which is always a plus point (but that said it's barely a 5 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station - so pretty easy for transport). Secondly, the team involved had all manner of interesting places on their CVs.

Essentially it's slightly poshed up stock, something which has apparently been a hit in the states (see Brodo for an example). It's also been seen as something of a healthy drink too in "wellness circles" (although
