‘Local is gospel’ in Parlez, Brockley’s new neighbourhood restaurant

There’s a new neighbourhood restaurant coming to Brockley, and the focus will be firmly on local life, from the digital loyalty cards to the top notch wifi and more.

The restaurant will also double as a bar, with a well-sourced drinks list that’ll be open all week long. It’s good news for Brockley, and should go down well in given the area seldom sees much in the way of new openings.

    We’ve been told

  • Louie Louie brings cakes by day and music by night to the Walworth Road

    Louie Louie

The pre-Christmas period was awash with new restaurant openings, so you'll forgive us if we missed a few out. A Hot Dinners reader brought our attention to Louie Louie which opened on the Walworth Road a week before Christmas. Billed a cafe by day and bar and restaurant by night, the cafe is run by the folk behind popular neighbourhood spot Fowlds Cafe.

    During the day it's a

Patty & Bun's latest Hackney spot is on Richmond Road

If you've been to Patty & Bun's London Fields spot, then there's the sad news that they're closing up shop there (on 9 Jan) - changing it into a full development kitchen.

BUT there's a new Patty & Bun opening just around the corner. It's a slightly bigger spot but it'll have the same feel to London Fields - big communal tables which can fit in around 50 people (with another 30 outside for when the weather heats

The building they've taken on is 27 Poultry - an iconic building designed by Sir Edwin 'Ned' Lutyens for whom the venture is named.

The Aplpha Beta cocktail bar comes to the Modern Pantry with Mr Lyan

There’s a new cocktail bar coming to Finsbury Square, and it sounds worth breaking Dry January for, particularly as the drinks list has bee designed by Mr Lyan, aka Ryan Chetiyawardana who’s been called, among other things, the king of cocktails *and* world’s best bartender.

The Alpha Beta bar takes over the space at the front of the Modern Pantry on Finsbury Square, so it’ll have a handsomely paired bar

    crosstowncamden

We're delighted with the flurry of openings that are largely sidestepping the whole New Year's resolution thing, and what could be less January than a new doughnut shop? Crosstown, who opened their second doughnuts and coffee bar in Shoreditch late last year, have just opened their third branch in Camden's Stables Markets.

There'll be loads of exciting varieties of deep fried doughnuts to try, including their oft-changing seasonal range. Right now,

Craft wine bar Pomaio opens on Brick Lane with orange wine, prosciutto and polenta

For the past few years, the craft alcohol market has been all but monopolised by beer, so it’s refreshing news that east London has just seen the opening of a new craft wine bar from two Tuscan brothers. Pomaio will feature wines from small, independent vineyards producing biodynamic, organic wine in the heart of Italy’s wine country.

Not only will there be plenty of classic whites and reds on
