• Studio 88 serves up duelling pianos and California cones off Leicester Square

  The folk behind Farringdon's Pianoworks have just opened a new live music venue with duelling pianos, cocktails and Asian-inspired food served in bamboo cones

• Tom Brown is opening Cornerstone in Hackney Wick

  Ex Outlaw's chef Tom Brown is going it alone in Hackney with his new restaurant Cornerstone. Expect a seasonal menu, plenty of seafood and counter dining too. 

• Bergen House on Newington Green is serving up 'banging' steak and fries

  Joining the flurry of openings in the N16 comes Bergen House, with a menu laden with choices, from grazing plates to sharers for two, Sunday roasts, specials, affordable wines and a classic English pudding selection.

• New London restaurants to look out for in 2018

  

  As another year begins, it's time to look forward to some of the most promising new restaurants due to open in 2018 (that we know of). And it's already looking like an interesting year, with the likes of Nieves Barragan and Tomos Parry opening their own places and the return of Simon Rogan, amongst others.

  There's been a lot of doom and gloom talk in some quarters about the London restaurant scene at the moment but we don't think there's need for despair just quite yet. While there have been closures (just like every year we've been running the site) it's been a real bumper year for new openings.

• L'Ami Malo modern creperie is coming to Spitalfields

  A modern crêperie is coming to Spitalfields, and you’ll be able to take your pick of toppings, or head to the Le Moulin speakeasy in the back where staff will be on hand to mix you up calvados cocktails...

• Farm Girl takes their superfood cocktails and new dinner menu to Chelsea

  After a well-matched first-floor takeover of Oxford Street’s hip Sweaty Betty gym shop, Farm Girl are on the move again to Chelsea, where they’ll be opening their third cafe and their first ever dinner menu.

• New sushi restaurant Kazu on Charlotte Street has ex-Chisou Head Chef in charge

  Ex-Chisou Head Chef Kodi heads up the team behind this new sushi restaurant on Charlotte Street, so there are high expectations here.

• St Paul cafe is coming to Highbury

  Replacing Nanna's in Islington is St Paul, a new all-day cafe. Expect cakes, pastries, small plates and more.   

• Roving French/Japanese supper club Bistro Mirey goes permenant in Fulham

  After a stint roving around London, Gerald and Ko of Bistro’s Mirey have decided to settle in Fulham, where they’ll be continuing to whip up seasonal dishes from a short menu that's big on French and Japanese flavours.

• Bread Ahead's new Soho cafe has a build-your-own porridge menu and French toast to go

  There’s no stopping Borough Market bakers Bread Ahead, who continue to pop up all over London with their sourdoughs, doughnuts and hot, comforting breakfasts.

• Rudie's new Shoreditch Boxpark will serve up Jamaican tapas and lunchboxes to go

  Two years ago, Rudies opened up in Dalston. Now, they’re heading down the road to Shoreditch’s Boxpark where they’ll be catering for the lunch crowd with their new “grab-and-go” Boxfood, as well as reinventing some of their classic menu options as smaller tapas.
