- Highgate's The Red Lion & Sun bosses lockdown with deliveries starting to local parks
It's always interesting to see how some businesses have adapted to the trying commercial circumstances they find themselves working under during lockdown. One place that seems to have adapted particularly well is the award-winning North London gastropub, The Red Lion and Sun.
From the word go, they diversified into a bottle and keg shop run from the front garden of the Highgate pub. They're also doing a storming line in

- The Goring gets ready to reopen with a new Secret Garden but no Nathan Outlaw
We've talked a lot about restaurants and bars being closed during lockdown, hotels - not so much. But an email received over the weekend reminded us that London's hotels have been busy behind the scenes, getting themselves ready for the time when they can receive guests again.
The Goring, just around the corner from Buckingham Palace, and a favourite dining spot of Her Majesty, has been using the time to make

- Hackney now has a roving pub service serving freshly poured pints
Despite the Prime Minister talking about a potential July opening for some hospitality businesses, most people suspect that pubs - particularly those without big beer gardens - will be among the last places to emerge from lockdown. That's a long time to wait for a pint. Which is why East London's Forest Road Brewing Company has come up with an idea.
Their mobile pub will bring you a freshly poured pint direct to your door. Pint

- Corbin & King look to help staff by giving them 50% of all voucher sales
Jeremy King is known for sending out irregular missives, with updates on the business, thoughts on Brexit (spoiler - not positive) and more besides.
Earlier this week, his latest email talked about the difficulty their staff are having with significantly reduced wages. Put simply, the service charge pool (aka the "tronc") is not included in the government furlough scheme, so many staff who

Update - 7/5/20
There are even more Shake Shacks on the way! This time they're opening two Deliveroo kitchens, so they're reaching areas of London that were previously deprived of Shack Burgers and frozen custard. First up is Battersea, opening on 9 May 2020 (delivering to SW11 including Balham, Brixton and Clapham) and that's being followed up by Swiss Cottage in the near future.
Expect more to come and we'll update you as the

- Selfridges is reopening its food hall for the first time since lockdown
We've been reporting on restaurants and cafes reopening for delivery, but we're very heartened to be able to report the reopening of the Selfridges Food Hall today. It feels like one more step back towards normality, helping London prepare itself for when the lockdown is eventually lifted.
In an announcement this morning, the Oxford Street store said it was reopening to serve the local community. They'll also be making it easy
... - Holborn Dining Room chefs team up with Drings Greenwich raising funds for the NHS
Over the past few weeks, we've been blown away by the many, many efforts from those in the hard hit restaurant community to help others. There have been folk from Michelin-starred restaurants and neighbourhood bistros making food for key workers and the isolated, raising money for the homeless and for those in their own industry and generally more than doing their bit.
So we're not remotely surprised to hear that
