MASH London

MASH London

| Mayfair, Belgravia

Taking over the old site of Titanic is this Modern American SteakHouse which hails from Denmark. The original is in Copenhagen and should offer an American steakhouse with "a twist of Danish informal eating and drinking". The menu offers the usual wide range of steaks while veal sweetbreads, foie gras terrine and salmon ceviche standing out among the starters.

"MASH, though, stands or falls on its steak and on that front it is a bellowing, stampeding success. It doesn’t come cheap, but then good steak probably shouldn’t." READ REVIEW

"We taste a Nebraskan New York strip next to a dry-aged Danish long-bone rib-eye. There’s nothing wrong with the sweet corn-fed American but the herby Scandinavian brought me to the conclusion that, when it comes to quality beef, there’s nothing like a Dane." READ REVIEW

"Much of the food is delicious, and none of it is bad. Service is uniformly exemplary. But, even allowing for the fact that this is a 'destination' restaurant, can a Casear salad, steak and chips with a side, a crème brulee and half a bottle of red be worth £80-£100, especially in these economically straitened times? Time will tell." READ REVIEW

"Mash is definitely not for anyone on a tight budget. But for a special occasion, or a spot of client entertaining it’s a safe choice. Alternatively, just come for a cocktail and soak up the atmosphere." READ REVIEW
