Chef James Cochran (who closed his much-celebrated solo restaurant 12:51 this summer) has taken over the food menu at the newly refurbished The Brave gastro-pub on Essex Road in Islington, which launches officially on Thursday 5th December.
James' launch menu at The Brave reflects his impressive culinary journey and mixed Scottish-Caribbean family heritage, including his famous Jerk spiced chicken scotch egg with scotch bonnet jam.
Other dishes include:
- Guinness & cheese toastie, bread & butter pickles
- Mangalitza brawn, gherkin ketchup, gem lettuce, pork scratchings & anchovies
- Coal-roasted Harrietsham leeks, confit onion & truffle hollandaise
- Potato dumplings, slow braised shin of beef, hay emulsion, Montgomery cheddar & beef gravy
- Vanilla ice cream, aged sherry & shaved truffle
Ahead of the launch, James comments - "We’re creating something really special here at The Brave," says James. "Given all the love we received from locals when we closed 12:51 this summer, it was a no-brainer for me to open something five minutes down the road."
The Brave by James Cochran is at 340-342 Essex Rd, Islington, London, N1 3PB. Follow The Brave on Instagram @thebravelondon
