It aims to concentrate on the "best of London’s street food" and this is represented by mixing several international cusines that hark from distinct areas of London (those would be the "Lanes" of the title). That means Vietnamese (Kingsland Road) Indian (Brick Lane) British (Portobello Road) and Lebanese (Edgware Road).

Shoryu Ramen

William Drabble moved from Aubergine to head up this self-styled 'intimate' restaurant at the St James's Hotel and Club. The menu may be 'modern-French' but the provenance of the food is all British. The dining room has just had a major refurb from Russell Sage Studios, giving it a new bar area and extended dining room.

Coya

Arjun Waney, one of the people behind Zuma, ihas opened this Peruvian restaurant in Piccadilly, with influences from all over South America. It's a more high-end affair that recent Peruvian restaurants with a private members' bar, dining area and terrace. The downstairs restaurant and bar is open to everyone and is run by Sanjay Dwivedi, formerly at Le Caprice and The Ivy and who has been spending time in the kitchens of Lima such as Cala, Astrid and Gaston. Expect plenty of ceviches and tiraditos and anticuchos or grilled skewered meat, including ox heart with parsley and ají rocoto, and parrillada dishes such as pechuga de pato – duck breast with lúcuma, soya sauce and coriander shoots.

Novikov

Russian restaurateur Arkady Novikov has launched three restaurants in one on this Berkeley site - a restaurant serving Asian seafood, another serving an Italian menu and a 'Far Eastern-themed bar'. Novikov owns a multi-million dollar restaurant empire in Moscow so expect plenty of bling. The chef for the Italian room Stefano Stecca comes via Zafferano and the Brunello restaurant at the Baglioni hotel in Kensington.

The new location is on Bruton Street and while it features a lot of the old favourites from Hakkasan on Hanway Place, the team created some new signature dishes for the Mayfair site. It's very much a celeb hangout too.

Casa Malevo

This Marylebone restaurant evokes the style of Argentinean steakhouses, with a stripped-back brick interior. On the menu, there's a big focus on the grill with plenty of Argentine steak, including a selection to share with Provelone cheese. The wine list is a great source of Argentinean reds and they also have a sunlit conservatory out the back.
